One of the largest water companies in the UK, Yorkshire Water manage the collection, treatment and distribution of water (as well as waste water), supplying around 1.24 billion litres of drinking water each and every day, consisting of over 700 water and sewage treatment works, 120 reservoirs and operate 40,000 miles of water and sewerage mains.

To drive down operational costs across all areas of their clean and waste water process (over 3,000 water processing assets in the UK) using their Asset Shortfall Performance Management (ASPM) system, where they could compare all assets across their entire asset base. They were looking for a solution that could handle up to excess of 10 million data feeds every day, providing them with streamlined vision of their whole operation, as well as offering added value to their customers.

C3 global were chosen as they were able bring all the different information sources together in one central place. By bringing all of the data into one place they were able to put it into context and make business decisions based on providing direct comparisons, real time data, and extensive reporting. There was obviously a major opportunity for improving customer service and reducing costs if the alarms could be predicted and diagnosed before they occurred.

Since the introduction, the water company has significantly raised performance standards in all categories compared to their nearest rivals, saving £48 million per year by using C3 global to identify shortfalls in performance and manage asset operational costs. In the time since the program was introduced into Yorkshire Water, they have gained an extraordinary competitive advantage, have progressed from being OFCOM’s worst performing Water Company to the best in a short space of time as a result of a rapid return of investment.

"There is no other solution out there that will do this level of analysis.”
