AvertIT to be reviewed on May 13th in Uppsala, Sweden
A review will take place on the 13th of May at the Uppsala University Hospital in Sweden to discuss the AvertIT project. Avert IT is a critical project within the Brain IT Programme. It is an EC supported project that is working to improve the outcomes for patients with Traumatic Brain Injury, (TBI). Avert IT involves centres in Barcelona, Glasgow, Heidelberg, Kaunas, Monza, Uppsala.
The Avert IT team has developed a monitoring and diagnostic solution that can predict arterial hypotension secondary 'insults' in TBI patients. The trial is in its second phase and the results have been improved by the ability to 'teach' the diagnostic system the lessons learnt from previous patients.
The benefits from the solution are substantial. Other than the primary issue of improving the outcome for the patient, it can:
- Alert Neuro-intensivists of the need to deal with hypotension
- Provide Hospital ICU Managers, Finance Directors and Chief Executives with a means of reducing costs
- Offers an auditable data stream that can be used when reviewing patient care
- Integrates and formats time-streamed information for data managers and medical researchers
- Makes background information available for pharmaceutical developers
- Provides a basis for the development of innovative integrated medical devices
Recent progress of the Avert IT solution will be reviewed in open session as part of the annual Brain IT Investigators meeting. Non-members who have the background and qualifications to contribute to the review will be welcome, and your attendance and registration can be facilitated by responding to AvertIT@c3global.com
